Decision details

To authorise the expenditure of approximately £525k (final cost estimate awaited, will be included within the content of the scheme specific DCR) to facilitate a combined classroom and small hall extension project. These two tasks are required to fulfil the aims of the Learning Places Programme, necessary to ensure sufficient pupil places, and the Planned Maintenance Programme respectively. The increase in pupil numbers is to be effective from September 2016. The budget estimate quoted includes all necessary construction works to facilitate this project, professional design fees, professional surveys and any necessary decant required to facilitate a late August 2015 occupation. Allerton CE Primary School has been identified as the epicentre of projected pupil place demand within the Alwoodley ward.

The Head of Learning Systems agreed to:

·  authorise expenditure of £489,417 from capital scheme number 32274/BGE/ALL to enable the installation of additional accommodation, including all necessary ancillary works, at Allerton CofE Primary School;

·  authorise acceptance of the tender submitted by the Leeds Local Education Partnership in the sum of £365,204, including all design fees;

·  note the programme dates identified in section 4.0 of the attached report in relation to the implementation of this decision. The final delivery date for this scheme is prior to the commencement of term September 2016; and

·  note that the officer responsible for implementation is the built Environment Principal Development Officer.

Consultation has been on-going with the school management team, LCC Highways & LCC Planning Department. Ward member briefings are being issued periodically at key points in the project programme.
