Decision details

To approve the programme of planned highways asset maintenance and strengthening (roads and highway structures) for the 2017/18 financial year (with a provisional programme for 2018-2020), and give authority to incur expenditure linked to these works.

The Chief Officer (Highways and Transportation):

i)  gave authority to incur expenditure of £8,459,229 (£5,835,646 works costs and £1,375,657 internal staff and partner design fee costs plus £1,247,926 inspection, assessment and asset management fees) funded from the 2017/18 Local Transport Plan Capital Grant Allocation;

ii)  gave authority to incur expenditure of £11,500,000 for planned highways asset maintenance and strengthening (Highways) funded from Leeds City Council Capital Resources (£10,267,856 works costs and £1,232,144 staff fees);

iii)  gave authority to incur expenditure of £3,130,000 for planned highways asset maintenance and strengthening (Structures) funded from Leeds City Council Capital Resources (£2,710,000 works costs and £420,000 staff fee costs);

iv)  approved the addition of the schemes listed in appendices B and C to this report into the Highways Assets Capital Programme for 2017/18;

v)  noted the addition of schemes listed in appendix D to this report into the Highways Assets Planned Revenue Programme for 2017/18; and

iv)  The Chief Officer shall be responsible for implementation of the attached programmes of work within the 2017/18 financial year.

Consultation on the programme of planned structural and preventative works on the Local Road network has been carried out with Local Ward Members. Councillors will be informed of work to be done in their ward on all parts of the planned programme once approval is received.
