Purpose:

Chief Officer Highways and Transportation to approve the detailed design, implementation and expenditure for fourteen20mph Zones or Limits, forming part of the 2017/18 Capital Programme.

Decision:

The Chief Officer (Highways and Transportation):

  i)  Approved the programme of 20mph zones and speed limits for the 2017/18 financial year;

  ii)  Authorised, subject to public consultation, the detailed design and implementation of the fourteen schemes to introduce 20mph zones or speed limits, as detailed in Appendix A; and

  iii)  Requested the City Solicitor to:

 iv)  Advertise a draft Speed Limit Order to introduce fourteen 20mph zones or speed limits as detailed in Appendix A;

  v)  Advertise a Traffic Regulation Order to introduce No Waiting At Any Time restrictions as deemed appropriate and to formalise School Keep Clear zig zag markings; and

 vi)  Subject to no objections being received, to make seal and implement the above Orders.

vii)  Gave authority to advertise a notice under Section 90C of the Highways Act 1980 to install vertical traffic calming measures along those roads within the zones detailed in Appendix B; and

viii) Gave authority to incur expenditure of £300,000 comprising £202,500 works costs, £67,500 staff fees and £30,000 legal fees, to be fully funded from the Local Transport Plan Capital Programme.
