Purpose:

To give authority to spend £2m, using 30% retained Right to Buy receipts, on the acquisition, within the terms of the Councils Repurchase Policy, and refurbishment of properties offered to the Council by the owners. Generally they will be offered as a result of the requirement under the Right of First Refusal regulations within the Right to Buy legislation

Decision:

The Director Environment and Housing has agreed the approval of funds for the Council to purchase properties offered  by their owners. To give authority to spend £2m on the acquisition and refurbishment of properties offered to the Council by the owners. Generally they will be offered as a result of the requirement under the Right of First Refusal regulations within the Right to Buy legislation.

Consultation has taken place with the Executive Member for Communities regarding the general aim of the scheme and with Housing Management officers on the proposals for identifying priority properties.
