The Chair admitted the following late item to the Agenda:

 

·  Certification of Films – Trailer for Young Film Festival to be shown at Cineworld, With Rose Centre.

The report of the Head of Elections, Licensing and Registration presented an application for the certification of a film to be shown at the Leeds Everyman Cinema on 26th March 2018.

 

The application had been received as the film had not been certified by the BBFC.

 

The film concerned was of a concert by Marillion at the Royal Albert Hall.  A brief synopsis of the film was appended to the report and a representative of the cinema had requested that the film be given a category 18 certification. 

 

RESOLVED – That having considered the report and the comments of the Licensing Officer, the application be granted with a category 18 certification.

The report of the Head of Elections, Licensing and Registration presented an application for the certification of an additional short film for the Leeds Young Film Festival and a film trailer for the Leeds Young Film Festival to be shown at Cineworld, Leeds.

 

The application had been received as the film had not been certified by the BBFC.

 

Martin Grund, Acting Director of the Film Festival and Gage Oxley, Festival Assistant were in attendance.

 

It was reported that the film was a short animation of two and a half minutes and the trailer would be shown 4 times over the Easter holiday period.  Neither the film nor the trailer had any notable part of concern other than a couple of scenes of mild peril.  It was requested that a PG certification be granted for both in line with the classification of the main feature films.

 

RESOLVED – That having considered the report, the comments of the Licensing Officer and the comments of the LYFF representatives, the applications be granted with a category PG certification.
