RESOLVED – That Councillor J Dunn be elected as chair for the meeting.

To disclose or draw attention to any disclosable pecuniary interests for the purposes of Section 31 of the Localism Act 2011 and paragraphs 13-16 of the Members’ Code of Conduct.

The report of the Head of Elections, Licensing and Registration presented an application for the certification of films to be shown at the Leeds Young Film Festival.

 

The festival would run between 28th March and 5th April 2018 and films would be predominantly shown at the Hyde Park Picture House.

 

Martin Grund, Acting Director of the Film Festival and Gage Oxley, Festival Assistant were in attendance.

 

A list of the proposed films and a brief synopsis of each film along with the proposed film rating was detailed in an appendix to the report.  It was reported that the following films which were included in those listed had been withdrawn:

 

·  Cloudboy

·  Girl in Flight

·  Heartstrings

·  Mountain Miracle – An Unexpected Friendship

·  The Girl Down Loch Anzi

 

The following was discussed:

 

·  The film Dummy the Mummy was aimed at very young children with the main character being a child.

·  The festival was aimed at families and children with no film having a proposed rating higher than 12A which gave parent’s discretion for their children’s viewing.

 

RESOLVED – That the proposed classification ratings for the films listed in the appendix to the report be approved.
