The
Hearings Sub-Committee is appointed by the Standards Committee. The
Sub-Committee is comprised of Leeds City Councillors, Parish
Councillors and Independent people who have no direct connection
with the Council. The Sub-Committee is always chaired by the Chair
of the Standards Committee or his/her nominee (however this must
always be an Independent Member of the Standards
Committee).
Role of the Committee
The Hearings
Sub-Committee is responsible for considering
and determining any complaints made against Members and for
determining any sanction to be imposed on a finding of
misconduct.
These
decisions will be conducted in public meetings, unless it is not in
the public interest for certain information regarding the case to
be revealed. Agendas and minutes will also be available in relation
to these meetings, unless the Hearings Sub-Committee decide to
classify part of the agenda as exempt or confidential
information.
Further information
The
Hearings Sub-Committee has no fixed membership, but will include
two Independent Members (one of whom will be the Chair), two Leeds
City Councillors and one Parish Councillor comprised from the
overall membership of the Standards Committee.
