Appointments to ALMO Boards pdf icon PDF 38 KB

To consider member appointments to the Boards.

(A late report will be associated with this item. In view of the need to make appointments at the earliest opportunity the Chair has agreed that the report will be added to the agenda when it is available).

Minutes:

The Director of Neighbourhoods and Housing submitted a report setting out proposed options for a process by which Councillor appointments are made to the new ALMO Boards, seeking agreement for the process to be used and nominations from within the political groups to the ALMO Boards.

The report outlined the following options for the nominations process:

1.  Current political balance of the Council

2.  Political representation in the area

3.  Stock numbers in the area

The report set out the Administration’s preferred allocation method, based on Option 2 “political representation in the area” which allows the political representation of the Council to be reflected within the ALMO Boards but in relation to the geographical area within which a particular ALMO would operate. It would also allow smaller political groups to be represented.

RESOLVED-

(a)  That the Member Management Committee be the appointing body for the ALMO Boards.

(b)  That the method used to determine the Member representation on ALMO Boards be Option 2 (Political Representation in the Area) as detailed in the report.
