An amendment was moved by Councillor Selby seconded by Councillor Taggart
Add the following after
“forthcoming local elections.”
“Council further notes that the code of conduct highlights that defamatory remarks about opposing candidates is a criminal offence. Council condemns any elected member or political activist who publishes such material during the course of the forthcoming local elections. It further condemns those who slovenly reprint newspaper allegations about opponents without personally verifying the accuracy of such allegations.”
