Minutes:

Q1  Councillor A Carter to the Leader of Council:-

 

Would the Leader of Council care to explain why he did not consult with the leaders of the other political groups before taking the decision to withdraw Council support for the Yorkshire International Business Convention, and would he accept that this decision has been seen as a snub to one of the world’s most respected spiritual leaders?

 

The Leader of Council replied.

 

Q2  Councillor Downes to the Executive Member (Neighbourhood, Planning and Support Services):-

 

Does the Executive Member responsible for community safety think it is a good idea for the police to consult regularly with local members?

Q3  Councillor Cummins to the Executive Member (Leisure and Skills):-

 

Would the Executive Board Member for Leisure and Skills want to join me in celebrating the response of local communities to the arrival of the Olympic Torch in Leeds?

 

The Executive Member (Leisure and Skills) replied.

 

Q4  Councillor Hardy to the Chair of West Yorkshire ITA:-

 

Can the Chair of West Yorkshire ITA inform Council what steps are being taken to pursue bus Quality Contracts?

Q5  Councillor Harrand to the Executive Member (Environment):-

 

Will the Executive Member responsible for the development of new allotments tell the Council when the volunteers of Alwoodley Allotment Association will receive the information about possible sites that was to be given last January or would he prefer me to read out the whole miserable saga of delay, disappointment and despair?

Q6  Councillor M Hamilton to the Executive Member (Environment):-

 

Why were Members not informed of the decision to cancel bulky waste collections in May and early June?

Q7  Councillor Charlwood to the Executive Member (Neighbourhood, Planning and Support Services):-

 

Can the Executive Member for Neighbourhoods, Planning & Support Services tell Council what commitments the city will be asking for from the soon-to-be elected Police & Crime Commissioner?

Q8  Councillor Iqbal to the Executive Member (Development and the Economy):-

 

Can the Executive Member for Development and the Economy update Council on the progress of key city centre development projects, including Sovereign Street?

Q9  Councillor Anderson to the Executive Member (Leisure and Skills):-

 

Presuming that the Executive Board Member agrees with his administration’s commitment to delivering front line services then why is he in charge of a Department that is inadequately resourcing the Parkswatch Team to the detriment of residents in the north of the City and causing extra work for the Parks & Countryside staff in trying to address the issues of anti-social behaviour in a number of Parks & Countryside assets?

Can the Executive Member for Development and the Economy join me in welcoming the Government’s recent announcement of £15 million additional funding for cycling in British cities outside London and will he inform Council of any plans he has to bid for this money?

Please could the Executive Member for Adult Social Care update council on developments with the residential governance quality framework and fee structure?
