Overview and Scrutiny Committee
The Overview and Scrutiny Committee scrutinises those matters falling within the portfolio of the Executive Member for Central and Corporate Functions.
Areas covered by the Overview and Scrutiny Committee include:
· equality and diversity;
· customer services;
· procurement;
· legal and financial services; and
· jobs and skills.
In addition, the Overview and Scrutiny Committee has a co-ordinating role on behalf of the other Scrutiny Boards by recommending inquiries to relevant Boards, undertaking cross-cutting inquiries and reviewing some of the major corporate activities including:
· Scrutiny of the Budget, Corporate Plan and Community Strategy
· Developing and promoting good practice in relation to the operation of Scrutiny Boards
· Receiving and undertaking call in requests
· Establishing time-limited Scrutiny Commissions to undertake cross-cutting inquiries
The Overview and Scrutiny Committee is made up of the Scrutiny Board Chairs and other councillors.
