Brief Description

As part of the Social Care Funding Reforms, DHSC is making available the Market Sustainability and Fair Cost of Care Fund over a 3-year period.  The fund is aimed at supporting the financial sustainability of older persons’ care homes and domiciliary care (home care) providers, as informed by the outcome of two cost of care exercises currently being undertaken with those providers.

This affects independent sector care home and home care providers operating across all wards of the city.

Financial and procurement implications

The first tranche of the Market Sustainability and Fair Cost of Care Fund is anticipated to be received in October 2022 and amounts to £2.235m for Leeds.  A  minimum of 75% of the fund expected to be allocated to the independent sector providers.

Partnership working

The A&H Directorate has engaged ARCC and C. Co to work with and support the providers in their cost of care submissions.  Leeds Care Association has also been an active partner in this programme.
