The Council was formed some seven years ago and presently consists of a Chair, seven Councillors and a clerk. Our main aim is to both improve and enhance the "Village" for the benefit of all. Adult residents number approximately 4300.
Drighlington is situated midway between Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield and Halifax, and it's main claim to fame apart from being mentioned in the "Doomsday Book" (Dreslington) is Adwalton Common being the site of a battle in 1643 between the Royalists and Parliamentarians. Details of the battle are well documented in English Heritage.
